Basic Purchasing Policy
The Dynabook Group's production activities span the globe.
In global activities like these, a fundamental principle of ours is to create fair opportunities for all companies, both inside and outside Japan, and evaluate them fairly to ensure that all of the materials we procure meet our exacting standards.
In addition to complying with all laws and social norms, earning the trust of trading partners and working for our mutual benefit, we actively work to fulfill our social responsibilities, such as our responsibility to carry out environmentally friendly practices, in all of our material purchasing activities*, and involve our trading partners in these initiatives.
*All mentions of material purchasing activities include materials for outsourced manufacturing.

In our purchasing activities, we apply the following specific principles based on the fundamental principle mentioned above.
- Fair and Open Purchasing Activities and Optimal Prices
- ⁃ Fairness is our number one priority when purchasing materials, and we pursue the optimal prices based on the principles of market competition.
- Building Trust and Working for Mutual Benefit
- ⁃ In addition to complying with all laws, regulations and social norms, all Dynabook executives and employees carry out their work according to the Dynabook Group Charter of Corporate Behavior and the Dynabook Code of Conduct to earn the trust of trading partners and work for our mutual benefit. The Dynabook Group Charter of Corporate Behavior and the Dynabook Code of Conduct were established to provide specific indexes for the corporate behavior espoused by our business philosophy and vision.
- Environmental Conservation
- ⁃ We work on environmentally friendly product development and business activities according to our Environmental Basic Policy. We also work together with our trading partners to strengthen our environmental conservation activities and implement environmentally friendly purchasing activities, such as procurement of green materials.
- Ensuring Optimal Quality
- ⁃ As a manufacturer, we have a responsibility to provide products that our customers can rely on. To provide our customers with top quality products, we work to ensure that the materials we procure meet our quality standards.
- Steady Supplies and Timely Deliveries
- ⁃ To ensure a steady supply of products for our customers, we work to secure steady supplies of materials and ensure timely deliveries. We also make sure the necessary repair parts will be available in future, as is our responsibility as a manufacturer.
- Advanced Technologies
- ⁃ We work to fuel new demand with revolutionary technologies, making active use of materials and parts that feature cutting-edge technologies, including original technologies and special technologies.
What We Ask of Our Trading Partners
Our business activities come with social responsibilities that apply not only to Dynabook itself but to our trading partners and the rest of our supply chain too. We ask our trading partners to comply with the following requirements so that we can fulfill those responsibilities.
- Compliance with Laws, Regulations and Social Norms
We ask that our trading partners comply with all applicable laws, regulations and social norms in the countries and regions in which they carry out their business activities. Below are some examples:
- ⁃ Complying with laws and regulations concerning matters such as production and sale of materials
- ⁃ Compliance with labor laws and regulations
- ⁃ Complying with health and safety laws and regulations and creating suitable work environments
- ⁃ Prohibiting child labor and forced labor
- ⁃ Prohibiting discriminations such as racism and sexism and treating all employees with respect and dignity
- ⁃ Compliance with environmental laws and regulations
- ⁃ Prohibiting bribery and other unfair acts
- ⁃ Requiring that materials are procured from smelters certified as conflict-free through the Conflict-Free Smelter Program (CFSP), a program developed under the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI) or an equivalent framework.
- Promotion of Sound Business Management
- ⁃ We ask that our trading partners promote sound, fair and open business management to ensure that we can trade on an ongoing basis, build trust and work for mutual benefit. We also ask that our trading partners disclose information to an appropriate degree, such as disclosing their business situation.
- Environmental Consciousness
- ⁃ We ask that our trading partners actively engage in environmental conservation and environmental management, strive to carry out their business activities and product development in an environmentally friendly manner and supply materials that comply with our Guidelines for Green Procurement.
- Ensuring Optimal Quality and Prices
- ⁃ To ensure that we provide our customers with top quality products, we ask that our trading partners supply materials that comply with safety standards and other relevant standards in each country and region and meet our quality standards.
- ⁃ We ask that our trading partners supply materials at an appropriate price based on the principles of market competition.
- Steady Supplies of Materials
- ⁃ To ensure a steady supply of products for our customers, we ask that our trading partners provide steady supplies of materials and ensure reliable deliveries.
- Advanced Technologies
- ⁃ We ask that our trading partners suggest materials with advanced technological features, such as original technologies and special technologies.
- Confidentiality
- ⁃ We ask that our trading partners carefully manage information they have learned through their trading of materials with us, strive to ensure confidentiality and do not disclose any information to outside parties without our permission.
