Main Initiatives

Quality Control

To ensure quality, Dynabook has established detailed Procured Product Authorization Standards for products (part materials and devices) that are procured and printed circuit boards (PCBs) that are designed and produced according to our purchasing specifications and drawings.
We work with our suppliers on quality control from the time we begin trading with them. When we begin working with a new trading partner, our quality assurance division uses documents provided by the people in charge of each material, such as a Trading Partner Quality Investigation Form or Form for Investigation of Quality Assurance Management System to check areas such as their quality framework according to our Trading Partner Quality Control Regulations and determine whether the company's quality is suitable. We will also conduct an on-site audit of the company's factories if we judge that this is necessary. The people in charge of each material verify the results. When a trading partner is approved, we conclude a quality assurance agreement, which contains provisions about quality assurance of purchased items and measures to quickly resolve any issues that occur.
The people in charge of the quality of each purchased item systematically carry out the following activities to improve quality.

 

1. Handling of Quality Issues

In the event of a defect or quality anomaly (a value outside the accepted range, such as one that exceeds a monitoring index value) is found when accepting items, during the production process or after shipping products, the trading partner is notified immediately and measures are taken to correct the issue and prevent it from occurring again.

2. Quality Meetings

To improve quality, the people in charge of the quality of each type of procured part attend quality meetings with our trading partners to verify and address the state of quality on a regular basis and discuss how to handle any anomalies.

3. Quality Audits

The people in charge of the quality of each type of procured part conduct regular audits of our trading partners to monitor and improve quality on an ongoing basis. These audits are conducted according to auditing standards recognized by our trading partners with cooperation from relevant organizations to ensure that the audits are conducted effectively and efficiently.

4. Quality Guidance

The people in charge of material procurement and quality control for procured items provide quality guidance to trading partners when necessary to improve the level of quality.

5. Process Change Management

In the event of a change in one of the 4 Ms (Man, Machine, Material, Method) in a trading partner's production process, production site, inspection criteria or other element that could affect quality, the people in charge of material procurement and quality control for procured items assess and manage the change according to regulations set by the people in charge of the quality of the relevant part(s).


If it is judged that purchasing from a trading partner would pose a serious risk, due to past precedent (pertaining to quality or otherwise) or the results of regular quality evaluations, the matter will be discussed with the relevant division(s) and we may decide that we will no longer trade with that partner. Acceptance inspections are conducted when deliveries are received. If any items do not pass the inspection, we ask the trading partner to rectify the situation—for example, they may deliver a replacement or repair the defective item free of charge by a method approved by Dynabook.
